The mechanical engineering capstone program brings together the technical and interpersonal skills needed for a student, in a team environment, to successfully plan, complete, and deliver a significant engineering project to a real customer. The program provides an opportunity for students to use their classroom education to solve engineering problems or produce prototypes for genuine clients.
Our projects are sponsored by a variety of organizations, ranging from small start-up companies to large, well-known institutions. The senior design course is a significant learning experience, which helps students develop and refine soft skills, such as a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, good communication, time management, team collaboration, professional poise, and many others – skills that are generally outside the focus of their technical courses. This course is a memorable experience for students during their college years before moving to a professional engineering career and is an opportunity for a few lucky students to be recruited by their project sponsors.
